The City of Edmonton has assessed the current 24 year old park located at Colonel F.C. Jamieson Park and Michael A. Kostek Elementary school, in FAIR condition and recommends a full replacement of the playground. A playground committee has been formed by parent volunteers to work with the City of Edmonton on the consultation, fundraising, design and construction of a new playground. A major role of the playground committee will be fundraising through various activities at the school, in the community, through grant applications and private donations.
WE DID IT!! Our goal was to raise $638,000 by December 2018 in order to start construction in the spring/summer of 2019 and open the new playground in celebration of the school’s 25th Anniversary. We've given the final cheque to the City of Edmonton and are now in the Equipment Procurement stage.
Play is the key to physical, mental, intellectual and social well being of children. Having a safe, inclusive and imaginative playground at Michael A. Kostek School can motivate children to get active, socialize and develop a variety of essential skills like agility, balance, co-ordination, and speed.
